New Year, New You: Same Tried and True Nutrition Tips for 2023

The new year is here and with it comes a fresh start. If you’re looking to make some positive changes in your life, why not start with your diet? Eating nutritious meals is one of the best ways to stay healthy and energized all year long. Here are some simple nutrition tips to help you get started on the right foot in 2023.


Eat Mindfully

Mindful eating means being aware of what you’re putting into your body and savoring every bite. This means no more scarfing down lunch at your desk or skipping meals altogether; try to sit down and pay attention to what you’re eating, at least, whenever possible. This can be especially helpful if you’ve been struggling with emotional eating or mindless snacking in the past. *Guilty!* Being mindful of what you eat will help keep cravings at bay and ensure that you don’t overindulge.


Incorporate More Veggies

Vegetables are a great way to get essential vitamins, minerals, and fiber without adding extra fat or calories. Try incorporating more veggies into your meals this year by adding them to salads, sandwiches, sauces, soups, and more (butternut squash is a great base for a soup, pasta sauce, or roasted for salads!). There are tons of options when it comes to vegetables—from leafy greens like kale and spinach, to brightly colored bell peppers and carrots—so experiment with different flavors and textures until you find something that works for you!

Drink More Water

I'll say it again, drink more water! Staying hydrated is one of the simplest yet most important things you can do for your health. Drink plenty of water throughout the day (aim for a minimum of half your weight in ounces...and that's on days you aren't active). It's ok that you'll be going to the bathroom a lot, ;) that's a good thing. If plain old H2O isn’t doing it for you, try infusing it with fresh fruits or herbs such as lemon, mint, or basil for a refreshing twist.


Making small changes in your diet can have a big impact on your overall health and wellbeing this year. Whether it's adding more vegetables to your plate or simply drinking more water throughout the day, these simple nutrition tips will help kickstart a healthier lifestyle in 2023.
